Time was, the biggest thing you had to worry about when buying a new home was if it was in a good school district, or if the neighborhood was built over a cemetery with a portal to the afterworld. Now the prospective homeowner has to be thinking “Was my future home the inspiration for “Breaking Bad”? Meth houses are popping up on the market all over the place. Take the Nugent family for example. They unknowingly bought a former meth lab. For want of an inexpesive test* and proper pre-offer legal guidance, they may have been able to avoid their nightmare house purchase. Avoid becoming the proud owner of your own personal Superfund site and A) always have a home inspection, B) bring an attorney on board at the earliest stages of your home buying process, before you even make that first offer. An attorney can help ensure that the proper tests are done, and that you have options** if the news is bad.

*not an endorsement of Homemethtest.com. But the name is catchy, no?

**paranormal phenomena excluded.
